Why This Watch Matters

The Full Story

As you may already know, the Italian Army had great taste in watches, ordering their military timepieces from the likes of Breitling, Panerai, Universal Genève, and Zenith. The Cairelli was named after the Roman retailer A. Cairelli, who used to supply these Zenith military watches to the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare Italiana) back in the 1960s. Additionally, they included their signature on the dials, giving a further stamp of approval. The Cairelli you see her also has AMI and CP engraved on the case back, as you should expect from a military "Cronometro da Polso". This 43 mm watch not only has a rich military history, but it also looks great, with this example displaying gorgeous patina on the bezel.

What we Love and What You Should Know

This large chronograph sits very comfortably on the wrist. The case here is well preserved and has visible bevels with the expected light scratches throughout. The bezel has faded over time and is now a gorgeous dark blue-grey color. Combined with the sumptuous and flawless dial, this watch is truly a sight to behold. Furthermore, the lume on the numerals is complete. This is one good-looking watch.
